Software Management works in such a way where patch files are downloaded onto the VSA server, then all managed endpoints download the required patches from our VSA server instead of from Microsoft. Turns out Software Management was using every last drop of our bandwidth. Endpoints couldn't check in, we couldn't surf, etc. We also realized that intermittently throughout the day, our upload speed would drop to 0.01 Mbps, effectively making it impossible to do our jobs. Shortly after moving in-house, we realized our ability to patch had disappeared. It's a Hyper-V VM (Server 2016) with specs that tower over Kaseya's recommendations. We are not running a split server setup everything is on the same server. These conditions allowed us to patch our 1,100+ endpoints, but we had to move to an in-house VSA server due to other significant SaaS reporting limitations (also another conversation). Our shop (1,100 endpoints) signed with Kaseya about one year ago, and we began our relationship with a SaaS-based VSA server. My understanding is that it cannot handle the major Windows 10 Feature Updates, but that's another conversation. It handles operating system patches for Windows, Linux, Mac, etc. Software Management is Kaseya's new(ish) patching mechanism.
